Reply Share this post. I had omitted that install part. I read around this forum, and it appears people are saying that choosing not to installl cs, or having steam installed on your cpu before installing hl2 will cause this problem.

It seems I had to install Counterstrike for the process to complete itself. Solved this problem by installing the counterstrike section which hl2nistall some files. Mailed the tech support about it.

Can't even post in hl2lnstall forum to say it sucks either because shock horror thats been down all day too. Please read and follow the instructions provided to complete this process. I have tried three times in total, once with firewall off Sophos antivirus still running and registered with steam.

Hi, Just install everything, thus including the counterstrike source. Well I am going to try and be patient.
